Measures reported by ClariionSGTest

A storage area network (SAN) is a specialized high speed network that connects computer systems, or host servers to high performance storage subsystems. The SAN components include

  • host bus adapters (HBAs) in the host servers,
  • switches that help route storage traffic,
  • cables,
  • storage processors (SPs),
  • and storage disk arrays.
  • A Storage group is configured by SAN administrator, which contains external server's HBA UID's (i.e external server/Host which is connected to SAN server). HBA UID is a (WWN)world wide number which is unique.e.g One Storage Group may have HBA UID's for 1 or 2 or 3 servers.

This test is used to identify the headcounts of the HBA's and Lun's pertaining to the SAN server.

The measures made by this test are as follows:

    Measurement Description Measurement Unit Interpretation
Hba_count This measure indicates number of HBA's configured to this Storage Group. Number The HBA UID, Storage Processor name and port number are reported in DD for this Storage Group.
Lun_count This measure indicates number of Lun's configured to this Storage Group. Number This lun's number is reported in DD for this Storage Group.
