THIN CLIENT USERS AND APPLICATIONS

Large thin client farms are characterized by tens of Citrix/Terminal/VDI servers hosting many desktop applications/user desktops. Users to these environments are typically allowed access to only those applicatons/desktops with which their profiles are associated. Everytime a user complaints that an application is inaccessible, administrators would have to manually check the user profile to determine whether the user is permitted to access that application or not. To save administrators from the drudgery of performing this redundant task, the CONFIGURATION MANAGEMENT console provides the following interfaces:

  • Thin Client Users
  • Thin Client Applications

THIN CLIENT USERS

This page can be accessed by following the menu sequence, Thin Client->Users. Using this page, administrators can pick an application that is executing on a Citrix/Terminal/VDI server, and quickly view the users who are allowed to access that application. Unauthorized application accesses will thus come to light.

To use this page, do the following:

  • Select a component type from the Component Type list box.
  • Next, select a specific component from the Component list box.
  • The Server Name box will be instantly populated with the fully qualified name of the Citrix/Terminal/VDI server that is chosen from the Component list.
  • Next, select a specific application from the Application list box.
  • Finally, click the SUBMIT button.
  • Doing so will list all the users who are associated with the chosen application.
  • Clicking on a user will take you to the THIN CLIENT APPLICATIONS page, where you can view the complete list of applications associated with the chosen user.
  • To view details of users who are allowed to access all the applications executing on a server, select the All option from the Application list box and click the SUBMIT button.
  • This will in turn display all the users associated with each application executing on the chosen Component.

THIN CLIENT APPLICATIONS

Using this page, you can receive a quick update on which applications a particular thin client user is authorized to access. If a user is unable to access one/more applications, then this information will enable administrators to determine whether it is owing to the absence of the required access permissions.

Follow the menu sequence Thin Client->Applications to open this page.
