Determining the SAP ABAP Instance Name

To determine the SAP ABAP Instance Name, follow the procedure detailed below:

1. Open SAP Logon client.

2. Choose the system / shortcut that connects to the instance being monitored. Then, click the Log On button that appears.

3. If correct, you will be presented with welcome screen below. To find name of the instance / server that we are monitoring, enter transaction SM51 in the text box.

4. Output of the SM51 shows the instance name as highlighted in the Server Name column. If there are multiple instances running in the same system, please cross check as to which is the correct name of the instance being monitored.

5. A Display Server Statuses and Alerts page will appear, which will display the details of the SAP Servers. Any of the values of the Server Name column in this page, can be provided as the value of the INSTANCENAME parameter.
