SuperManager - Add/Delete

Large enterprises often have thousands of devices, servers, and applications that have to be managed, and a single eG management console may not have the capacity to handle the entire enterprise. To support such enterprises, multiple eG managers may be needed. However, if each of these managers operates independently, they may not provide a common view of the entire enterprise. Hence, it could be very cumbersome to have the IT staff of the enterprise login to different eG management consoles to get a complete view of the status of the target infrastructure.

A SuperManager is a manager of managers that provides a consolidated view of the status of the IT infrastructure that is being handled by different eG managers. The eG suite offers two options for configuring a super manager. The eG SuperManager is a 100% web-based component of eG Enterprise that provides a consolidated view across disparate eG managers.

To configure the eG Managers to work with the eG SuperManager, administrators can do either of the following:

  • Explicitly add the SuperManager in each of the managers configured for the SuperManager or

  • Enable automatic registration of eG SuperManager in each of the eG managers

This page helps the administrators to view the list of SuperManagers that are communicating with the eG manager. To access this page, click on the icon available in the Admin tab. Then, select the Supermanager Settings option in the Miscellaneous tile.

By default, if the SuperManager is automatically registered with the eG manager, then, this page will list the details of the eG SuperManager. To know how to register the eG SuperManager automatically in the eG manager, click here.

To explicitly add a SuperManager, you can click on the Add SuperManager button in this page. In the ADD SUPERMANAGER pop up window that appears, specify the following:

  • SuperManager Name/IP - Specify the name of the SuperManager or the IP address of the SuperManager to which the eG manager should report to.

  • SuperManager Alternate IP(s) - If the eG SuperManager and the eG manager reside in the same local environment but on different host, then the eG manager would be able to communicate with the SuperManager using an intranet IP. In such cases, provide the alternate IP of the SuperManager in the SuperManager Alternate IP(s) text box.

  • SuperManager URL - Specify the URL of the SuperManager which would be used by the eG manager to communicate with the SuperManager.

  • Clicking the Add button would add the SuperManager to the manager.

Note:

The eG manager is capable of communicating with multiple SuperManagers simultaneously. Therefore, you can add multiple SuperManagers from an eG manager.

To modify the SuperManager, click on the icon.

Similarly, for deleting a SuperManager, click on the icon.

To delete one/more SuperManagers, select the check box against each SuperManager and click the icon.
