Adding a new aggregate component / Modifying the existing aggregate component
Adding a new aggregate component
This page appears when you click on the Add new Aggregate Component button in the Aggregate Components page.
In this page, specify the following parameters to create an aggregate component:
- The component type that you chose in the Aggregate Components page for creating an aggregate component will automatically be populated in the Aggregate Component type field.
- Since an aggregate component is just a logical component and not a physical one, you need not assign an IP address to that component. Therefore, just assign a nick name to the component in the Nick name field.
- Next, since only a remote agent can perform metric aggregation, choose the Remote agent to be assigned to the aggregate component being added.
- If web servers are aggregated, then an additional Site Support flag will appear. By default, this flag is set to No. You can set the flag to Yes, if you want to create an aggregated web site using the web aggregate component being created. To know more about creating aggregated web sites, refer to the eG User Manual.
- By default, the Available Components list will display all the managed components that are of the ‘individual’ type that corresponds to the Aggregate component type chosen. For instance, when creating an IIS Web Aggregate component, all managed components of type IIS Web will be displayed by default in the Available Components list. If one/more of these ‘individual’ components are included in a service, segment, zone, or component group, an additional Filter by list will be available. By selecting an option from the Filter by drop-down, you can filter the Available Components list, so that it displays only those ‘individual’ components that belong to a selected Segment, Service, Zone, or component Group. To associate one/more of these ‘individual components’ to the aggregate component being added, select them from the Available Components list, and click the Associate (
) icon in the Aggregate component page. On the other hand, to disassociate any of the ‘individual’ elbements that were previously associated with the aggregate component, select them from the Associated Components list and click the Disassociate ( ) icon.
- To add the newly created aggregate component, click the Add button.
- In the same way, multiple aggregate components of a type can be added.
Modifying an aggregate component
This page appears upon clicking the Modify button against the aggregate component name in the Aggregate Components page and enables the user to change the details of an existing aggregate component.
This page depicts the current details of the aggregate component. The user is allowed to modify the details of the parameters to his/her choice using this page.
- The component type of the aggregate component that is to be modified will automatically be populated in the Aggregate Component type field.
- The user is allowed to alter the Nick name, Remote agent and the assocoiation of the components to the aggregate component using this page. In addition to this, if the aggregate component is of IIS Web type, the user can also modify the Site support option.
- Upon Clicking the Update option, the aggregate component would be modified as per the user's choice.
