Remote agents
The eG Enterprise suite allows administrators to configure multiple remote agents for their environment. The eG system implements the concept of ‘Agentless Monitoring’ using remote agents. A remote agent is an agent that is capable of monitoring a number of systems and applications remotely, in an agentless manner. To access this page, click on the icon available in the Admin tab. Then, select the Remote Agents option in the Agents tile. The list of remote agents that have been configured in the
environment is available here.
To configure a new remote agent, click on the Add New Agent button in this page. The New Remote Agent page appears, enter the New IP/Host Name and Nick name in the textbox available near the option. Then, select the Add as External Agents option, and click on the Update button.
To edit an existing agent, click on the icon. To delete an existing remote agent, click on the icon here. However, the default remote agent on the eG server cannot be deleted or modified. Also, if the agent is assigned a Host, then the icon will appear near the agent name. This indicates that the agent is locked and cannot be deleted using the icon.
To associate and disassociate hosts to any external agent, click on the Associate/Disassocite Hosts button. This button will lead you to the ASSIGN - REMOTE AGENTS page. Then, do the following;
From the Remote agent list, select the remote agent for which you want to assign hosts.
The hosts that are currently managed by the chosen agent will appear in the HOSTS MANAGED BY THIS AGENT list box. The other hosts, which may be associated with other remote agents, appear in the OTHER HOSTS list box.
To assign the selected remote agent to multiple hosts, select the hosts from the OTHER HOSTS list box and click the < button.
To disassociate the remote agent from hosts with which they are currently associated, select the hosts from the OTHER HOSTS list box and click the > button.
Finally, click the Update button.
On the other hand, if you want to assign hosts to a particular remote agent, click the icon that corresponds to that agent.
