Default Parameters for XChgFolderStatsTest

This test retrieves information about the public folders in the mailboxes on a server, including the number and size of items in the folder, the folder name and ID, and other information.

This page depicts the default parameters that need to be configured for the XChgFolderStatsTest.

  • The TEST PERIOD list box helps the user to decide how often this test needs to be executed.

  • The Exchange Management Shell is a command-line management interface, built on Windows PowerShell v2, which enables you to administer every part of Microsoft Exchange Server 2007/2010. This test uses the Exchange management shell to run scripts and collect the desired performance metrics from the Exchange server. To enable the test to load the Exchange management shell snap-in (exshell.psc1) for script execution, you need to specify the full path to the Exchange management shell in the XCHGEXTENSIONSHELLPATH text box. For instance, your specification can be, c:\progra~1\micros~1\exchan~1\v14\bin\exshell.psc1.

  • Provide the name of the target server in the SERVERNAME text box.

  • Specify the preference of the folders to be displayed by choosing either Important or All option. Upon selecting Important option, crucial folders inbox, outbox, deleted items, sent items and calendar details will be reported by measures and DD of this test. All the folder details will be provided by the measure and DD of this test by selecting ALL option.

  • The DD FREQUENCY refers to the frequency with which detailed diagnosis measures are to be generated for this test. The default is 1:1. This indicates that, by default, detailed measures will be generated every time this test runs, and also every time the test detects a problem. You can modify this frequency, if you so desire. Also, if you intend to disable the detailed diagnosis capability for this test, you can do so by specifying none against DD FREQUENCY.

When changing default configurations of tests, the values with “$” indicate variables that will be replaced by the eG system according to the specific server being managed - for instance, $hostName is the host/nickname of the target host, $port is the port number of the server being monitored. e.g., for a server xyz:80, $hostName will be changed automatically by the eG manager to “xyz” and $port will be changed to “80” when configuring a test.
