Configuration of IMSMsgQueueTest

The IMSMsgQueueTest will report statistics related to the message traffic in channels.

The default parameters associated with this test are as follows:

  • The TEST PERIOD list box helps the user to decide how often this test needs to be executed.

  • In the HOST text box, the host name of the iPlanet messaging server for which the test is to be configured has to be specified.

  • In the PORT text box, the SMTP port of the iPlanet messaging server needs to be specified.

  • The VERSION parameter refers to the version number of the SunONE messaging server that is being monitored. By default, none will be displayed as the VERSION. If you are monitoring a SunONE messaging server that is of a version below 6.0, you need not change the default value of this parameter. However, while monitoring version 6.0 or above, the exact version number needs to be explicitly mentioned against this parameter.

  • If you are monitoring a SunONE messaging server that is of a version below 6.0, then, in the INSTANCEDIRECTORY text box, specify the full path to the directory that corresponds to the current messaging server instance. For example, in Windows environments, the path can be expressed as: C:\iPlanet\Server5\msg-egtest. In Unix platforms, the path can be specified in the following format: /usr/iplanet/server5/msg-sun08. On the other hand, if you are monitoring version 6.0 or above of a SunONE messaging server, then ensure that the SunONE messaging server's root directory is specified as the INSTANCEDIRECTORY.

  • If multiple components of the same component type are awaiting configuration, then an APPLY TO OTHER COMPONENTS check box will appear in this page. Clicking on this check box will allow you to apply the configuration to all/selected components of that type.

  • Once the necessary values have been provided, clicking on the UPDATE button will register the changes made.

When changing the configuration for specific servers, a “*” beside the text box corresponding to the parameter signifies that these values have to be manually configured by the user. The parameter values that require to be configured will typically be prefixed with a “$” or contain a series of “*”. A value of "none" in the parameter value indicates that the corresponding parameter value can be changed if required.

Note:

While installing the eG agent on an iPlanet messaging server in an Unix environment, ensure that the eG user (specified during agent installation) is the same as the iPlanet messaging server user (created at the time of the server installation).
