Default Parameters for MySQLKeyBufTest

This test monitors the key buffer of the MyISAM storage engine and reports the current size of the key buffer and the size that has already been utilized by the key buffer. This test also helps administrators figure out how well read/write requests are serviced by the key buffer. Using this test, administrators can also identify the execution that is frequently performed on the key buffer. The statistics reported by this test help administrators analyze the usage of the key buffer, and provides them with useful pointers to fine-tune the configuration of the key buffer.

This page depicts the default parameters that need to be configured for the MySQLIndbTpTest.

• The TEST PERIOD list box helps the user to decide how often this test needs to be executed.

• The test uses a database on the monitored MySQL server. Specify the name of the database in the DATABASE NAME text box.

• To monitor MySQL database server, the eG agent should be configured with the credentials of a user with server-wide Process and Select privileges. Specify the name of user in the USER text box. Specify the password of the specified user in the PASSWORD text box. To know how to create such a user, refer to Configuring the eG Agent with Access Privileges section of the Monitoring MySQL Server document.

• Confirm the Password by retyping it in the CONFIRM PASSWORD text box.

• Once the necessary values have been provided, clicking on the UPDATE button will register the changes made.

When changing default configurations of tests, the values with “$” indicate variables that will be replaced by the eG system according to the specific server being managed - for instance, $hostName is the host/nickname of the target host, $port is the port number of the server being monitored. E.g., for a server xyz:80, $hostName will be changed automatically by the eG manager to “xyz*” and $port will be changed to “80” when configuring a test.
